Established in 1987, the Arizona Trail Riders (ATR) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to responsible off-highway recreation and the preservation of off-highway motorcycle riding in Arizona. We are a family-oriented club located in Phoenix, Arizona with a state-wide membership of roughly 150+ members at all levels of riding abilities. Our focus is trail riding, but we also promote desert racing and dual-sport events in Arizona. Land use issues, as they affect our sport, are also a focus of the club.
Every year, ATR hosts one or more major organized races/events. In the past, these have included AMA National Enduros, AMRA Enduro Qualifiers and Desert Scrambles and AZ Bike Week Dual Sport Rides. In addition to these events that are open to everyone, the club also hosts many events for club members and their families. Along with numerous club rides and camping trips, ATR also sponsors club rides to Baja, Mexico and Colorado. The annual club trip to Las Vegas for the Maxxis Endurocross is also very popular. ATR members also have the opportunity to volunteer at other large sporting events such as the SuperCross and W.O.R.C.S. motorcycle series.
A considerable part of our efforts are spent working with Bureau of Land Management, Arizona State Land Department, and U.S. Forest Service land management personnel to develop and maintain trails throughout the state so that everyone can enjoy the great outdoors that have helped make Arizona so famous. Club members participate in numerous trail maintenance and trail cleanup programs throughout the year. We also support local and national community organizations by donating either our time or a portion of our club event proceeds.
A sample of the agencies we assist include:
U.S. Forest Service: Adopt-a-Trail Program
Arizona Department of Transportation: Adopt-a-Highway Program
